Hello! I’m Richard Whittall, a writer, researcher, and editor with a special focus on football analytics and finance. A former full-time feature writer for theScore.com, my work on soccer has appeared in/on The New Yorker, The Atlantic, The New York Times, the Guardian, ESPNFC, and Howler magazine.
I’ve been covering the nascent soccer analytics field since 2012, and over the past four years I’ve collaborated with analytics companies including Prozone Sports and 21st Club, and at least one UEFA Champions League football team. I have also worked as an editor and researcher for Rethink Management and helped conduct a feasibility study for the Canadian Soccer Association on the viability of Division II soccer.
